We're back...to blogging that is. Anything prior to this post is from previous years. We want our blog to be a place that we can share information on upcoming and previous events so that the community has a better understanding of all that this amazing club accomplishes and is involved in. Fall 2022 Artisan Market & Craft Fair

the october 15 craft fair was a huge success!

It was a stunning day weather wise for mid October in Atkinson, New Hampshire and the shoppers showed up! We had 67 vendors renting space at the event. They included two food vendors offering a variety of lunch options as well as candies, baked goods and drinks. Our crew of 20 members managed the event like pros from guiding the vendors, assisting with set up, managing traffic and selling raffle tickets. Congratulations to the committee for this successful event and especially the Committee Chair, Rose Cavalear.

Atkinson high school students - Annual Scholarship Program

The time has come to apply for our 2018 high school scholarship program.

Winners must be a resident of Atkinson, NH during their senior year of high school. It does not matter what high school you are graduating from but, you must be a resident of our community.

We are awarding five $500 scholarships (see more details on the application and/or flyer).

Thank You For Purchasing Commemorative Plates!

The AWCC wishes to thank all individuals and organizations that purchased one or more of the 250th Anniversary commemorative license plates. There were 200 plates purchased and it is truly appreciated as all proceeds will go back to the town. This was a wonderful way to help celebrate our big anniversary and to spread a little Atkinson cheer around while driving.

Please remember to remove the plates from your vehicles at the end of the year. They will not be legal to have as a license plate after December 31st.

AWCC Donation Drive - SAVERS in Plaistow, NH

Reminder - Today is the last day to participate in our the AWCC Donation Drive at Savers in Plaistow.

Drop off your donated items to SAVERS and not only will you get rid of items you no longer need allowing someone else to enjoy them but SAVERS will pay pennies per pound to the AWCC! The AWCC gives every penny back to the community through various programs.

When you drop off your items at SAVERS, it is important to tell SAVERS that this is for the Atkinson Women's Civic Club.

SAVERS accepts clothing, kitchen items, knick-knacks, small furniture, bed/bath items, exercise and sports equipment, toys and MORE!

Artwork Calendar Contest

Get your creative juices flowing with this Artwork Calendar Contest to celebrate Atkinson's 250th Anniversary. Artwork will be original works celebrating the beauty of Atkinson through photographs, line drawings, pen&ink, pencil line drawings, watercolor, acrylic or oil paintings. Winning entries will be printed to represent one of the each 12 months of the year.

Artwork must be dropped off at the Kimball Library. Ask for an entry form and fill it out for your submission.
Entry deadline for artwork is July 16, 2017

College Scholarship For Atkinson Seniors

$500 Scholarship Giveaway

Through our fundraising programs, we have raised enough money to allow us to grant three $500 college scholarships to members of the 2017 graduating class.

Winners must be a resident of Atkinson, NH during their senior year of high school. It does not matter what high school you are graduating from but you must be a resident of our community.

We are looking specifically for students who have been involved in the community through volunteerism, civic contributions, local government, Scouting programs and/or other similar activities.

2017 Warrant Articles

The AWCC will be on site at this important event to deliberate on the articles included in the Warrent. This session shall consist of explanation, discussion and debate of Warrent Articles 2017-4 through 2017-18.

If you plan to attend, be sure to stop by our table for some refreshments. We aim to keep you bright and focused during the Town Deliberation Session. We will have coffee, water, and some breakfast items in the morning, and then chili and hot dogs at lunch time.

Eva McDermott - Yellowstone & Grand Tetons National Parks

We are proud to have the photography of one of our members, be on display at the upcoming photo show to be held at the town library.

Stop by to enjoy Eva McDermott's spectacular photography on exhibit starting Wednesday, January 25 to Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Atkinson Town Library. The exhibit will consist of about 30 color and B&W images featuring Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks as well as Idaho's ghost towns and mountains. The photo exhibit is a combination of landscapes as well as natural and man-made abstract scenes.

Saturday, October 22nd

We are helping to paint the town yellow as part of the 250th Anniversary celebration coming up in 2017. Tomorrow is Make A Difference Day and volunteers from the AWCC will be planting hundreds of daffodils at the Community Center on Main Street so that there will be a beautiful splash of yellow to represent our participation in the project next Spring. Around town, many volunteers from various clubs including the Lions Club and the Atkinson Garden Club will be planting hundreds of bulbs to help celebrate with a splash of yellow in the Spring. The Garden Club held a fundraiser recently selling the bulbs so many residents will be planting on their own properties as well.

We couldn't do it without you!

The AWCC would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the residents who supported our recent fundraiser by registering and participating in the the Fall Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, September 24th. The event was a great success with 70 homes participating and lots of traffic flowing through town providing the shoppers. Many residents donated unsold items to SAVERS in Plaistow for an added benefit to the fundraiser. The proceeds from this event are given back to the community through various programs.
We would also like to thank the Boy Scouts of Troop 95 that helped us by transporting the donated books from the Library to our Got Books bin at the Community Center. The Library holds a book sale twice per year during the yard sale event and then donates the remaining books to the AWCC. Thanks to the Town Library for their generosity. Together, we can make a difference.

Once again, we are sponsoring the this huge event to be held on Saturday, September 24th from 8:00am to 3:00pm (rain or shine). This event continues to grow and promises to be a great opportunity for both buyers and sellers.

Yard sales must take place at an Atkinson residence or at the Town Community Center. Limited space is available indoors or outside at the Community Center.
